KharkivMusiсFest-2021: Piano Concert by Paul Lewis

Paul Lewis (United Kingdom), a world-renowned classical pianist will perform a recital for the first time in Ukraine on the 10th of April at the Grand Hall of Kharkiv Philharmonic. His performance will take place within the framework of KharkivMusicFest-2021, which this year celebrates the 250th anniversary of Ludwig van Beethoven.
Paul Lewis is renowned for his piano interpretations of Beethoven and Schubert’s oeuvre. Mr Lewis’ performances won critical and mass acclaim. They secured his reputation as one of the world’s most prominent interpreters of classical repertoire in Central Europe. Among his numerous awards is the Royal Philharmonic Society’s Instrumentalist of the Year Award, two Edison awards, three Gramophone awards, etc.
Paul Lewis is one of the popular and actively-touring pianists worldwide. He often performs as a solo artist with leading world orchestras, such as philharmonic orchestras of Berlin, Boston, London, New York, Los Angeles, as well as symphony orchestras of Chicago, London, Leipzig, etc. Paul Lewis is a frequent guest of prestigious music festivals, including BBC Proms, Lucerne and Salzburg festivals, Schubertiade, etc.
He regularly holds recitals in prominent venues, such as Carnegie Hall in New York, Royal Festival Hall in London, Vienna Philharmonic, Théâtre des Champs-Elysées in Paris and Berlin Philharmonic.
Programme for Lewis’ solo concert in Kharkiv includes following piano masterpieces of classical music – works by Felix Mendelssohn (selection of compositions from “Songs without Words” cycle), Piano Sonata No. 11 in A major (Turkish Rondo) by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Preludes by Oleksandr Scriabin and Modest Mussorgsky’s “Suite Pictures at an Exhibition”.
