28.03.20 18:00

Festival Orchestra is one of the highlights of #KharkivMusicFest. Each year it assembles a unique group of musicians from leading orchestras and chamber ensembles in Ukraine, as well as from other countries. Festival Orchestra has assembled for the first time in 2018, making it first of its kind in Ukraine.

In 2020 Festival Orchestra will gain an international status, since leading Ukrainian musicians will be joined by their colleagues from symphonic and chamber ensembles from Australia, Belarus, Germany, Georgia, Greece, Great Britain, Israel, Lithuania, Poland, Slovakia, Turkey, Czech Republic and Sweden. Many have performed in leading orchestras in their native countries and around the globe, including Lucern Festival Orchestra, BBC Symphony Orchestra, Czech Philharmonic Orchestra, Georgian Philharmonic Orchestra, Slovak Philharmonic Orchestra, Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra, Berlin Symphony Orchestra, etc. Additionally, some of the musicians perform independently outside of their respective ensembles, many in prestigious music venues.

The programme for 28th of March will include both the renowned Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony (work of a celebrated Kharkiv-born European composer — Serhii Bortkiewicz), and Felix Mendelssohn’s Concerto for violin and orchestra (soloist — Tobias Feldmann, Germany).

Tobias Feldmann is a german violinist, who at the age of 27 became one of the youngest conservatory professors in Germany. He frequently tours, and only during this concert season, he will be performing in most of the European countries. Violinist became recognized after his epic triumphs in international contests, such as Queen Elizabeth Competition in Brussels (2015) and International Joseph Joachim Competition in Hannover (2012). Feldmann plays a violin, which was handcrafted in 1769 by an Italian master Nicolò Gagliano.

This concert will be guided by KharkivMusicFest festival orchestra’s artistic director — Stanislav Khristenko, a Kharkiv-born American pianist and conductor. Stanislav Khristenko has performed in twenty different countries and reviews of his recitals could be found in world-renowned publications, such as New York Times, Gramophone, etc. He is also the founder and conductor of Kharkiv chamber ensemble Nova Sinfonietta.
