As part of the KharkivMusicFest 2020 edition, Edgar Moreau, a world-renowned cellist, will perform in the Grand Hall of Kharkiv Philharmonic.
He will be joined in this performance by one of the most successful non-state orchestras in Ukraine — New Era Orchestra.
Edgar Moreau is a successful French cellist — at the age of 11 he has already performed with celebrated orchestras. At 15, he won first prize at the Rostropovich Cello Competition and at 17 won second prize at the prestigious International Tchaikovsky Competition.
Moreau has performed at numerous renowned festivals in Japan, Switzerland, France, Great Britain, as well as world class stages like Carnegie Hall In New York, Wigmore Hall in London and Musikverein in Vienna.
Collectives, such as New Era Orchestra prove that academic music can and should be widely appreciated. After its foundation in 2007, this ensemble became integral to Ukrainian cultural scene. During the 13 years of its presence, orchestra’s activity has only been feasible thanks to the support of numerous sponsors, benefactors and partners. With the help of such a strong support base, the orchestra has been able to complete a series of national and world premieres.
Tetyana Kalinichenko’s (artistic director and conductor of New Era Orchestra) initiative was vital in successful collaborations between New Era Orchestra and world-renowned soloists, such as Joshua Bell (USA), Sarah Chang (USA), Avi Avital (Israel), Kit Armstrong (USA), Andriy Belov (Ukraine/Germany), Christoph Sietzen (Austria), to name a few. Furthermore, New Era Orchestra is responsible for boosting careers of top Ukrainian soloists of the new generation.
The concert programme will include such renowned compositions as, Symphony No. 7 by Ludwig van Beethoven and Rondo Capriccioso for Violin and Orchestra by Camille Saint-Saëns (soloist — Andriy Pavlov).
In the second part of the concert, Edgar Moreau together with New Era Orchestra will perform Concerto for Cello and Orchestra in C major by Joseph Haydn. Additionally, they will perform Concerto for Cello and Orchestra in A minor RV 419 by Antonio Vivaldi.
